Sadie worked in the arts for twenty years and is now a school teacher and farmer. She and her partner Matthew Evans run Fat Pig Farm where they raise Wessex saddleback pigs, milk two full cream Jersey cows, raise goats and a handful of beef cattle. For seven years they ran sold out long table lunches in the paddock to plate farm restaurant, a journey recorded in the SBS television series Gourmet Farmer. Together, Sadie and Matthew manage 70 acres of southern Tasmania which produces enough food for 10, 000 meals a year while building topsoil and encouraging biodiversity.

Gourmet Farmer Matthew Evans is a Tasmanian chef, farmer, food writer and broadcaster. He has authored SOIL, a hymn to the remarkable and underappreciated bit of Earth that gifts us life and the completely revised cookbook, The Real Food Companion. His next book, MILK – due out in July 2024 – unpacks the truth and lies behind the original superfood.
